[mythtv-users] High CPU usage with mythtranscode, even when set to low priority

I've just noticed, top shows the nice value of mythtranscode to be 17, so a
low priority. I suspect my installation of linux is ignoring the values of
nice. I've read it might be todo with acpi, but I've also read pci=noacpi.
Can anyone reassure me its safe to use pci=noacpi?
