Hmmm....there's no USB to serial adapter involved, unless it's internal to
the device (and from the log snippet above, maybe it is), which is simply
a dongle with the IR receiver on one end and the USB plug on the other.

I thought I went through the whole list of drivers but will try the irman
driver again.
