There are clearly (at least) two reasons for using mythtranscaode: to 
apply a cutlist, or to clean a recording to be saved in standard DVD 
format.  Accepting that it would be difficult to retain subtitles for 
DVD, isn't there a case for a lossless transcode that retains all the 
streams in the original broadcast but simply applies a cutlist?
