[mythtv-users] ATI vs NVidia card conclusion

I'm not sure what this "commitment" means; however, ATI has been touting
their Linux support for 7 years - yet support is almost worthless. ATI may
comment on wanting to open source their drivers, but always fall back on
"includes proprietary/licensed code so we can't open source it".
Here's an ATI press release from 1999 touting their commitment to open
source. Hmmm....seven years later still nothing.

Wow...what a difference. In the remote chance that anyone from ATI/AMD is
on this list..please forward this internally!
While it's not of much use to anyone setting up a myth system today, it is
worth noting on this list that AMD has committed to open sourcing their ATI
drivers, while the Nvidia drivers appear likely to remain binary only for
the foreseeable future.
