[mythtv-users] Mythtv Front end very slow after upgrqade to Fedora core 6

Hi,

I had another post asking about my why mythfrontend takes 10 to 30 seconds
to paint a simple menu on my setup. I had everything working at one time,
and then upgraded hoping to fix an different issue, which broke
mythfrontend. It is still usuable, but I can not move this system to the
living room TV until my wife can use it, and as it is now she would never
have the patience to wait for the menus to finish drawing.

So based on this thread and others I've seen references to switch from
OpenGL to QT for menu painting. On my system both are slow. So that is not
an option for me. I believe I have multiply options and am hoping someone
can confirm one or both of the options are valid and which route they would
take and why? Some I have less control over than others.

Option 1: Downgrade the NVIDIA driver from version 9755 to 9746 which the
mythfrontend uses.
Option 2: Install a new version of mythtv-suite - I am currently installing
via yum, so maybe there is a "bleeding" repo that has a mythtv-suite with
9755 supported?
Option 3: Get the yum repository manager to build a 9755 based
mythtv-suite, and then once posted download that version
Option 4: Download mythtv source and compile the mythtv-suite myself. I do
not like this option, because I program enough at work and want to stay away
from debugging build issues for my hobbies.
Option 5: This just occured to me, but I very well could be think about
this all wrong.. Could I have installed 9755 via yum, that put it into the
kernal, but then need to run something like modprobe to update which client
is used?

This thread also said run glxinfo. So if it help come up with an alternate
solution then the ones listed above here is the output:
glxinfo

Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has the version 1.0-9755, but
this client has the version 1.0-9746. Please make sure that the kernel
module and all NVIDIA driver components have the same version.
