[mythtv-users] pcHDTV 5500 - NTSC and QAM?

The M179 will do a much better job encoding the analog.  Correct me if I am
wrong but i believe the 5500 is a  software encoding card for SD (HD is
already digital so you don't have to encode, therefor it will not have a
processor on it).   If you are worried about using PCI slots  I am a huge
fan of the HDhomerun.  Its a network based dual ATSC tunner.  You can use it
for Terrestrial or QAM or a combination of the two.  Plus the best part is
that its completely supported out of the box with Myth.  No drivers or
config at all (you would want to upgrade to .20).  Just connect the
HDhomerun to a 100mb switch, open myth-setup, add and the tuners.  The
website has really good instructions and a very helpful staff on the
forums.
