OK, so after trying FC6 64-bit, FC6 32-bit and Mythdora (FC5-32-bit) to no avail, I tried the card in another FC6 (32-bit) machine and it worked. I put it back in the offending machine, but in a different PCI slot, and voila, it works. It's odd that there were no errors anywhere in dmesg or the boot logs, but it looks like it was an IRQ type conflict all along. So now I'm back to installing FC6 again.
