I'm not sure where you thought I said that downloading was a good idea. 
Unless you're downloading from a place that is authorized by the studios 
to provide video services -- e.g., iTunes, Amazon, MovieLink, etc -- 
it's illegal.  I think we're agreeing, you just misread my post. :)
