[mythtv-users] Fwd: Fedora Core 6 New recordings play back too fast

I have the same problem. I've got the latest and greatest everything...
even rebuilt the whole darn box to try and fix this. Was not a problem when
I was on FC6 build 2895, but now that I've got 2911, it's a problem.

It has to be something that Myth is doing with the capture card. Here's how
I know....

Steps to reproduce:

1. Clean box, built with: Linux 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6 #1 SMP Sun Mar 4
16:41:13 EST 2007 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
2. Build mythconverg from scratch. Get mythtvsetup done so you can record
something.
3. Don't set mythbackend to start automatically.
4. reboot the system.
5. Run this test script that I created for this issue (captures 1 minute of
video):

    date
    cat /dev/video > test_capture.mpg &
    sleep 60
    date
    kill -TERM `ps ax |grep /dev/video |grep -v grep | cut -c 1-5`

6. Play the test_capture.mpg file back. (I used my Windows-based DVD player
software) You'll notice that the video lasts for approximately 58 seconds.
(generally I've seen a 2 second delay from the time it's supposed to record
to the time it actually does, so I think that 58 seconds is pretty much the
length the video should be.
7. Launch mythbackend, and record something. (I just played Live TV)
8. Stop recording. (Exited Live TV)
9. Run the same script again. The video will only last 53 seconds. (argh)

I believe this must be a bug that was introduced into MythTV recently,
because it was working for me just a little while again. I wanted to ensure
my Myth box was latest and greatest for the blasted DST changes. (don't get
me started on my thoughts there.)

Does *anybody* have an answer to this? I think I'm going to go nuts if I
have to put up with chipmunk voices much longer. :-(
