I did the exact same thing, I have the Microsoft USB IR receiver, and in 
the 880 setup, I put this for the device and model number..

Manufacturer: Microsoft
Model: A90-00007

The model number was on the remote/usb receiver combo....   Look at 
yours and put it in.
It programmed all the buttons and I gentoo installed the lirc conf 
file... works really slick...
