[mythtv-users] Best HD transcoding setup & settings?

Sorry to hijack this thread but this is related. I used the examples to set
up mythtv-trunk (0.21-157) to transcode HDHomerun recordings. They work
great if I transcode each show manually. It took three system 48 hours to
transcode all my HD recordings. The show "House" was the only recordings that
failed I am guessing a noisy recording. So that part works fine thanks to
bmayland for the info

I have four transcode profiles named "Autodetect from x" where x is 180i 720p
480i 480p. However if I select a show to transcode automatically using the
autodetect method, it simply does not do so. It goes direct to Commercial
flagging. Running mthbackbackend with -v jobqueue as far as I can tell the
transcode job never gets queued, I do not see any errors.

Automatic transcode after recording from the PVR-x50 tuners works fine and
happens before commercial flagging.

I noticed under the Transcode screen there is a HDHomerun transcoders profile
under this I set up 4 profiles with the same name as the transcode
profiles "Autodetect from x" and each one I selected "enable Auto-transcode
after recordings" This did not help again I did not even see the transcode
job queued. So I set up four more profiles simply named 1080i 720p 480i 480p
Also set "enable auto-transcode after recording" Again no help.

If I select a recording to automatic transcode using the profile "Autodetect
from 720p" no automatic transcodeing happens. I was careful to look back
in the logs to make sure that show was previously transcoded manually with
the 720p profile. So I was not doing something silly like selecting the
720p profile for a 1080i recording.

So any ides on what step I missed?

Thanks
