Better yet would be ffdshow...it handles Divx (among other formats) and isn't a
closed ripoff of open-source code.  It also handles many more formats than
Divx, including MPEG-2 (the biggie if you want to watch HD recordings, or

Media Player Classic is another trimmed-down player you can use that will still
have access to any DirectShow codecs.  It's not too different from Windows
Media Player 6.4, which still exists on most Windows boxen.

"Codec packs" are the last thing you want to install if you value the stability
(such as it is) of your Windows box.  ffdshow handles every format your MythTV
box will generate, and most of what you can download.
