I was thinking this is probably the main problem.
There are some comercial application motherboards
which may accomodate this though. Hypothetically
though, on a 5 slot board...
PCI video slot 1: Video Card (2 heads)
PCI slot 1: Haupauge PVR500 (2 tuners)
PCI slot 2: PCI Video Card (2 heads)
PCI slot 3: 4 port serial card
PCS slot 4: Sound Card (use 2 outputs)
Mainboard sound (use 2 outputs, I.E. SPDIF and line
out)
Maybe an HD home run on the network
Board config
Q6600 quad proc
8Gb Ram
2 TB RAID
I have no idea how to set this up, but here's a
thought
1. Set up a unique X session on each video head, have
three mythtv frontend with distinct logins, 1 general
use linux desktop with a Windows VM on the fourth
video head.
2. Keyboard/mouse would only used for Linux/Windows VM
desktop. LIRC used for all 3 myth front end
instances. KVM management could be used (if needed)
from VNC from the general desktop, with different VNC
ports for each X session mythfrontend. Hopefully you
can assign a separate LIRC serial port for each Myth
instance. Set each Mythfrontend to use a different
sound source on either the main board or 2nd sound
card.
3. Run wires for sound, serial LIRC, and video for
each remote front end station. I have no idea if
amplification is needed, probably trial and error.
Maybe you could go 50 to 100 feet without?
Comments, would this work at all...? Could this
support a couple SD and one HD setup, two HD setups?
