Depending on how you set up your system, there might be older logs
archived in that same directory. For instance, on my system I have:
[mythtv at mythtv mythtv]$ ls -l /var/log/mythtv
total 3824
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2523932 Nov 8 01:57 mythbackend.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 371072 Nov 4 04:50 mythbackend.log.1.bz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 226687 Oct 28 01:53 mythbackend.log.2.bz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 442448 Oct 21 04:49 mythbackend.log.3.bz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 316331 Oct 14 04:50 mythbackend.log.4.bz2
If you have a similar thing, you can copy the .bz2 files somewhere
else, unarchive them and grep those. I keep about a month's worth of
logs before they are rotated out into oblivion.
