That was a Celeron CPU with 1 GB RAM. The mobo was changed to a
Biostar TF7050-M2 (dual AMD 64 bit CPU) with 2 GB RAM, the same
MythDora 4.0 was installed, using standard config. There was a problem
with video output (none) and this was fixed by installing drivers from
NVidia.

None of the problems seen before with the ASUS board are there. The
live TV flows smoothly except perhaps for one or two seconds after a
channel is tuned. A recorded show will playback at normal speed (it
used to make voices higher pitched).

So this is great. Although this solves the problem, there is no clear
indication that the ivtv drivers were at fault. It could be that the
ASUS board has problems dealing with the PVR500 card. It certainly had
issues when an AGP video card was plugged in (and this is documented
somewhere).

As a bonus the Biostar board has S-Video output, so by disconnecting
the VGA cable and connecting the S-Video to a TV set, there's instant
TV output. And there's a HDMI jack for future expansion.
