[mythtv-users] Extra choppy streaming

Hi,
I am trying to set up a living room frontend - it's a advent DHE-500
media centre pc with 1,5GB RAM, a P4 2.8GHz, 180GB HD, a ATI X300 low
profile card, and (unused yet) TT2300C DVB-C + analog capture card.
The network is 802.11g, with a RT2500 PCI adapter on the media centre,
and a linksys WRT54GL AP running DD-Wrt. The backend is working
perfectly, and is connected by ethernet cable to the WRT.

The problem is that, even though I can watch movies over NFS shares
without problems, trying to watch live TV or even recordings is
extremely choppy, showing a frame per second or less. What can I do
to, at least, watch recorded TV without hiccups? As I wrote, I can
watch movies over NFS without any problem, so even a script to convert
transcoded programs and to place them in a subdir of my movies shared
dir might be enough, but it would be better to be able to watch live
tv - after all, the bandwith shouldn't be that much more than for
watching DVDs or divx encoded movies.
Any hints?
