Or, on the off chance that he only needs frontend functionality, there are
things like the MiniMyth distribution (if you can even call it that) that
work without even needing a disk in the front end box. I know I'm a fan
of it!
Otherwise, I agree. Go with a distro known to work well, and trim the
fat.
