Thankfully, that's becoming less and less necessary.  You can often use a
boot CD to do a BIOS upgrade, and many modern motherboards can use a USB
flash drive for BIOS upgrades.  The only thing keeping floppy interfaces on
motherboards these days is Windows XP, which can only get third-party
storage drivers from a floppy.
