There are numerous threads covering this topic on gossamer.  One of
the most recent can be found here:

Basically, there are two time over-runs: the soft overrun in TV
Settings->General (Advanced) [page 4].  This overrun will be honored
-if possible-, but will not cause conflicts.  If you specify the
overrun on a per-recording basis, it is a hard overrun and MythTV
considers the show to be 1 minute (or 2 or 5 or whatever) longer than
the listings say it is, and thus they cause conflicts.

So, the end answer is to use the overrun in TV Settings->General
(Advanced) to set your "end late", which will apply to -all
recordings-, and then not set it at an individual recording level.
