[mythtv-users] Hard drive spin down, rtc: lost some interrupts at 1024Hz, zaptel , and ivtv0: Cause: the application is not reading fast enough

Every once in a while I would get in dmesg that ivtv is dropping data cause
the application is not reading fast enough. I also get the rtc has lost
some interrupts message and I have zaptel installed. I just came across
this thread:

http://forums.digium.com/viewtopic.php?p=46221&sid=410ecce657b99d06ed012a8062a01aa4

and now I am wondering if these are all related. Could the hard disk
spinning down be the cause of the rtc error as well as the ivtv error? ( I
get minor frame dropping from this). After all, if the disk has spun down,
then maybe mythtv cannot read fast enough ( can not write fast enough to
disk). I know how to set the spin down but dont know how to find out the
current setting. I dont want to change anything if I dont need to. My
system has pretty much been stable 24/7 for months on end and I would hate
to wear down my disks by cancelling spin down (if it is indeed set). I
notice that a PC running 24/7 seems to have fewer hard drive failures but I
dont know why ( spin down? or perhaps because they don't have to?).

Anybody care to comment?

Thanks
