[mythtv-users] transcoding slower in 0.21 than in 0.20?

A couple of days ago, I upgraded from 0.20-2 to 0.21 (svn).  Since doing so, I have noticed that my transcode jobs run a lot slower than they used to, and produce mp4 files considerably larger than they were with 0.20.  For example, an hour of SD video that used to compress from 2.2GB mpeg2 down to 1.0GB mpeg4 now only compresses to 1.6GB.  The compression speed has also slowed down to about 12MB output per minute on an otherwise idle system (Athlon 64 3800+, dual core, 3GB ram).

Would this be expected with the new code?  Did the compression algorithms change significantly between the two revs?
