First place to look is in your mysql log file. Mine is here: /var/log/ 
mysqld.log
Not sure where yours is.

If you aren't logging mysql, try to start it manually and see what  
error it gives.
I start mine with:
sudo /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql

This will all be different depending on your Linux distribution.
