I know I can bring up the menu while watching a recording and force a mode, but this is a cumbersome. Is there anything I can set in the database to turn off the "auto detection" feature, and simply force bob2x deinterlacing at all times? My experience under 0.19 was that this worked well because bob2x works with both interlaced and telcined video, and doesn't cause any noticable problems when applied to 720p recordings...
It's not guessing. It's using the flag that's on the frames and put
there by whomever encoded the recording. If you play PVR-x50
recordings, it always works right (because they're encoded correctly).
If you play recordings that were encoded by people in the industry who
are just trying to figure out all this new-fangled digital TV stuff the
FCC is forcing them to broadcast, all bets are off.
The way to force a setting is as you've done and it's only forced for
the current playback session.
