Hmm, I'll give that a shot, thanks.  You have to do it each time you start playing a movie/mp3/etc?

I have a 7600GT with HDMI. I have to unplug the SPDIF connector from the 
back of the device each time I play for the sound to work. I have no idea 
why, it's just this way. If I put SPDIF coax separately into my receiver, 
it works every time without the unplugging, but sending SPDIF via HDMI, I 
have to unplug/replug and then it works. I spent a LOT of time to figure 
that out.

I have a Sony 40W2000 TV.
