[mythtv-users] New 0.21 server up, remote frontend built, not viewing programs, files look wrong

Hi,
   I've built my new 0.21 server today. Shiny new kernel
2.6.24-gentoo-r4 kernel using ivtv-1.0.3-r2. I'm able to capture video
to test files correctly using cat /dev/v4l/video0 > test.mpg. (or
video1 also) So far so good.

   The backend came up an hour ago. The server is headless so I
shelled in and ran the frontend remotely to set up some recordings.
The recordings seemed to execute correctly but when I look in the
/video directory the file sizes are too small and they don't play:

The log file looks pretty sad. Is this step about setting up 'Software
Encoders' new in 0.21???

There seem to be two options - RTjpen and MPEG4. I'm not clear what
I'm being asked to set here? Are there any specific instructions about
or am I getting fooled and this is actually some other error?

Maybe Myth doesn't like the way I've done the connections to the cards?
