You should not hit any snag.
If you do, there is a problem in your setup/system.

I believe that it got solved recently for 2.6.24, and later:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.24.y.git;a=blobdiff;f=drivers/usb/host/ehci-q.c;h=d1df9e9c5897b895e2fe8e3f2cf77d6a2b281534;hp=b10f39c047e944848f3ac2aa4067e820d2f5df90;hb=5475187c2752adcc6d789592b5f68c81c39e5a81;hpb=1b52961e49f8b7293b52826c7e12a689d516fe18
I have experienced the disconnects with 2.6.24 before. I have tried this
patch manually, before it got included in myy Ubuntu 8.04 kernel. It does
the trick.

This is an old transition firmware. It has bees superseded for some months
now.
You should really take a look at this:
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Leadtek_Winfast_DTV_Dongle
Get a new v4l-dvb tree compiled against your kernel and get the correct
firmware. Life should be good for you.
