Looking at it, it is not clear how HD the recorded stuff is, it does not mention 
clearly that the recording is HD, so it may just be doing the component at a 
lower resolution and/or bitrate.   The mention recording qualities, but not 
recording resolutions, so I would suspect that everything is done at SD 
resolutions and bitrates.   It does note heavily that it can playback 1080i/720p 
stuff but does not make similar claims on the recording end.

The information is rather weak on it.
