I'm battling something similar here... Guide 'freezes', and will buffer
keystrokes. Sometimes it's for five seconds, sometimes it's for 30. CPU
usage doesn't go through the roof, but the front end just goes on a long
walk off a short pier. Eventually, though, it comes back (*always*).

So far I've tried turning off speedstep (no effect), and turning off bob
deinterlacing. Not sure if killing Bob did the trick, because I just can't
stand non-deinterlaced pictures. When your main myth screen is 120", comb
artifacts are HUGE! (Maybe someday I'll pop a mylanta and try it again.)

I *have* noticed that it *seems* to only happen when something is being
comflagged in the background. If I'm watching LiveTV otherwise, I don't
*seem* to have it ever happen.

(All my content is ATSC HD OTA, just for completeness' sake.)

A week or two ago I was digging around the bug tracker, and found this bug
that certainly *seems* to fit my symptoms. No resolution yet,
unfortunately:
