What does the frontend log say when when it's trying to connect to
mythlcdserver?

Do you see messages like this:-
Connecting to lcd server: localhost:6545 (try 1 of 10)
Connecting to lcd server: localhost:6545 (try 2 of 10)

Does it connect before it gets to try 10 of 10?
