My recomendations:

Dont get the HVR-1800. In linux you can only use it to tune Digital
channels

I would recomend the pvr-150 or the pvr-500. Both will allow you to record
your cable service well in the future. The only time you will need a
Digital tuner is if you are trying to get HD of cable or any TV OTA (After
Feb 19th)

If you get a PVR-150 you would want to cable it as so:

1) COAX ----> Coax Tuner of the 150

2)  STB --> S-video + RCA audio --> pvr-150

Connection 1 will allow you to get all the channels your TV will with out
the STB. Usally channels 1-100 ish. Connection 2 will get the channels
that you can only view via the STB.

You will put the two connections in a tuner group so Myth knows you can only
record one of these at a time.

if you get a PVR 500 you can double this with 2 stb or just have two
connection #1's.
