Right now the status is as follows:
lirc - I have a proof-of-concept getting an lirc remote acting as an
/dev/input/event device. I can create multiple 'keyboards', one for each
lirc device. TO DO: modify lirc_serial driver to allow the use of
multiple homebrew receivers. lirc_serial is my preferred method because
it lets me run longer runs. I'm testing with 50' cable runs. (I could
really use some help with lirc_serial code.)
mouse: easy, use void driver. We don't need no stinking mice!
display: I can get multiple logins, one for each card output. (I have 4
logins from 2 dual-head cards). I am using a modified Xephyr on top of a
background X session using the evil binary nvidia driver. Right now gdm
doesn't want to play nice with local connections so I'm using xdmcp, which
blows away any chance of acceleration. This is a configuration problem,
so I expect it will go away soon. TO DO: set up gdm correctly. Test
Xephyr for HD performance.
sound: easy enough; alsa lets me set default for that session by setting
ALSA_CARD=n for each X session.
Not ready to release files quite yet; hopefully in the next couple of
weeks I'll have some proof of concept stuff out.
Windows is like a canary in a coal mine, it's the first thing to die on
