[mythtv-users] HD-PVR and 0.21: any way to add it as a capture card?

Hi all -

I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR, configured correctly as per these instructions:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_HD-PVR.

I can get a really nice 720p recording doing this:
cat /dev/video1 > test.ts

at the max bitrate, and it plays back beautifully on my system. The
driver, though "alpha", seems to work great on this box. Kudos to the
devs for some nice work.

However, I can't add it as a capture card:
"Add a new capture card. When prompted, select "H.264 Encoder Card
(HD-PVR)" as the card type. Set the /dev/video node to the number of your
HD-PVR. Finish adding the new capture card. You can also set the audio
input on this screen."

because this option doesn't exist in the latest 0.21 packages I'm running
(Mandriva 2008.0; the packages correspond to SVN around 16500-something).

Is there any way I can configure this to work other than changing over to
SVN/trunk? I'd really rather not, since everything else is now working
well. If not, about how long (guess-timate) am I looking at before the
changes will be made available to the packagers?

Thanks very much....and again, great work so far!

Bob
