Lately, the backend is getting restarted often just to keep the system
working while I troubleshoot this. The first problem started after
the backend was up for at least several days, perhaps weeks. I should
add that this machine has been running flawlessly for 2 months. It is
a mythbuntu 8.04 machine on a AMD 5400+ CPU, Asus M3A MB, spdif sound
output.

Here is top right now with my wife watching GMA and the olympics
taping. XORG looks high??? Everything is working fine and I don't
see anything odd in the logs.

I rebooted last night to do the fsck and it looks like it is going to
work when my wife starts using it as I can see the previews. I don't
remember the load last night but I will look when it crashes again.

I remember last week seeing XORG running at 99% one time. I don't
remember if that was associated with a crash or not. I think I
rebooted to clear it.

Thanks again.
I have been wondering if I should just update all the software and see
if that clears it. I have resisted doing that because it crashed my
machine once while I was getting the system set-up and I was strongly
advised not to do updates by the list.
It would be good to know what is wrong, though.
I am thinking that about a week before the problem I was getting the
second frontend working and made some changes, like enabling NFS and
one other. But the system was fine on both frontends for many days
after that so I didn't think of it at first. I also changed the
restart-X logon wait time to 3 seconds a few days ago. I have not
made other changes.
I looked at the mythfrontend.log before looking at the show this
morning so it is short as the machine has not been used except to look
at a couple of previews since the reboot. It has several errors in
it.

I googled the 4 errors I see. The first one showed up as caused by
not having mythphone configured and should be ignored. The next 3
showed up but with no resolution given or found. In two of the cases,
people posted with no reply at all.
HELP!!!
Allen
