[mythtv-users] Noobish network cable connection question, basement > upstairs

I do move large files over my network, so I'm wondering if gigabit would be
worth it for me. What would roughly be the cost? I have one desktop and the
mythbox server, and we have a couple laptops in the house (would they see
any benefit via their wireless connections?).



 

Most newer motherboard come with gigabit onboard.. if not, you can pick up a
good gigabit card for around $20. For $30 you can get an intel one. A 5 port
gigabit switch can be bought for around $15AR, an 8 port one for $20AR or
so.... you just need to wait for the deals. And no, you wouldn't really see
any speed benefit over a wireless link.
