Definitely go for the fresh install. Going from FC 4 to Fedora 8 is an
awful lot of upgrades. I have gone from FC 6 directly to Fedora 8, but
it was slightly painful. Not too bad, had to remove some packages and
do some things manually to get around conflicts, but I don't recommend
it. Once you are on Fedora 8 though, yum upgrades should be relatively
straight forward. I have used yum updates since FC6 to go to F7 and
from F7 to F8 without any issues.
