I think it's arguable that "Tivoisation" of GPLed code, that is making
the source available but using hardware to make it impossible to run
altered code, actually exploited a loophole in GPL2, violating perhaps
the spirit of GPL2 but not the letter.
However, someone on slashdot pointed out something rather
interesting...since they are in fact using GPLed code, this very
lawsuit is in fact an admission that they are violating the GPL. How
can you legally have anything that you consider proprietary alongside
GPLed code?
This whole thing is why I cringe when anyone talks about buying a
Tivo...they're slowly surpassing Sony and M$ on my shit list, that's
for sure.
