I have my DLP beamer, AV Receiver, DVD player, PC and everything at the 
back of the room and I've run fairly thick 4 core lighting flex to the 
front of the room where I have it soldered onto gold plated Banana 
sockets that my front left, center & front right speakers connect to, 
you only need 4 wires to power 3 speakers as negative is common, (or 
neutral or black whatever you want to call it) you should check this 
first but I've not had a problem with the 3 installs I've done this way.

The other advantage is because the connections are soldered there's no 
need to mess around with expensive low-oxygen cables or any of that crap.
