That is because you have allowed your backend write access to the
/recordings directory that's on your root filesystem instead of only
allowing it to write to the mounted filesystem.

We are getting off track here.

The comment the person I replied to made was "If you use storage groups each
drive is independent so no increased risk of down time."

The point I was trying to make was that even having all the individual
drives be mounted separately and having them as storage groups would not
always mean that the system would never be down due to a loss of one of
these storage groups.
