Not sure if it works but there was a bit about using the MCE remote to 
wake a box up on the wiki.  It should, hypothetically apply to any USB 
connected remote with a power button.  If it's a inbuilt IR port, dive 
in to the BIOS and see if it's a viable wakeup device; if so you again 
might be in luck.

You might need to tinker with the sudoers file to make it passwordless 
for that script and the mythtv user.
