Why did you run mythtv-setup (intended for backends only) when
installing a dedicated frontend? You should only need to run
mythfrontend and correctly give the address of the master backend and
correct database details.

You should not have mythbackend running on the frontend machine (I
doubt you do though). Running mysqld on the FE is also likely to add
to the confusion. Can your new frontend successfully connect directly
to the database?
