The basic Kontron board has an Intel® Atom™ processor Z510 (1.1 GHz)
processor; hardly a comparison to the 630MHz of the EeePC. The FSB of
the EeePC is only 70MHz, also a LOT slower compared to the 400MHz of the
Kontron board.

Don't suppose that all Atom processors are the same. Performance is also
very dependant on the support chips and the FSB frequencies.
IMHO the Kontron board is a steal when taking price - preformance into
account.

It might just manage SD content but it certainly won't do deinterlacing or HD playback. I'm not sure if it's the same spec as that board but I was thinking of getting an atom board for a frontend and the Eee changed my mind.
