I am gonna test this on my desktop pc which has a AM2 X2 3800+ cpu. if it
is able to downscale 1 minute of recording faster in less than 1 minute, it
should be fast enough ... if not, well ... the idea still was not so bad :)

good idea to check mythweb for the params. the flash player is
probably not doing
anything else.
