Hi there,

One more thing: I also tried setting my widescreen laptop to display
1024x768 (4:3, stretched), and MythFrontend.app behaves in exactly the
same way.

Thanks again,

Yes, my television runs Linux, too. Yes, really.

| Hi folks,
|
| First: thanks to the dev community for all the work: MythTV is,
| actually, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Bravo. :-)
|
| Second: sorry if this is a duplicate post; the solution in the one
| related thread I found[1] didn't do the trick.
|
| So, my backend is tuning in live TV and recording shows in 4:3. I've run
| the MythFrontend.app build from Sniderpad[2] with great success on my
| 12" PowerBook G4 (also 4:3) for remote viewing. My wife's 13" MacBook
| and my new MacBook Pro, however, display in 16:10. The MythFrontend.app
| from Sniderpad starts on both machines and, when I attempt to watch live
| TV or recordings, both cheerfully play the audio and show no video. All
| the PVR/UI screens display just fine.
|
| I've tried mucking with the aspect ratio setting in the Setup on each
| frontend laptop to no avail. I've tried starting the frontend with the
| AR specified on the command line per [1]. I noticed that there's a
| "contextual menu" (on the Linux frontend that runs on the same box as
| the backend) which allows me to change the AR on the fly, but either I
| don't know what key to press for that on my laptops, or I can't see it
| when it does come up. ;-)
|
| So, is there a way that I can force these magnificent new widescreen
| laptops to display the video coming from "4:3ville"? I'd happily settle
| for black bars flanking the video, at this point. Any help would be
| greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.
|
|
| Cheers,
|
