I use the same type of setup where /boot is on raid1. And the rest raid5
over 5 drives. Something that softraid lets you do is to have more then
2 drives in raid1. I have all 5 drives in raid1:
md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] sde1[4] sdd1[3] sdc1[2] sdb1[1]
144448 blocks [5/5] [UUUUU]
