Thanks!  That was it.  I forgot all about that, and once I read your 
suggestion, the light bulb went on.  I just transcoded a recording to 
mpeg4 using my new Autodetect profile (which I set to to mpeg4 by 
default) and was able to play it via the MythTV Player for Windows.
