Umm.. I've been running with ISO's since I started with MythTV back a 
year and a half ago.  I haven't had any problems playing ISO's.  Aside 
from the occasional skip or hiccup (guessing it was a buffering issue) 
which has pretty much cleared up (I still see it every now and then, and 
not on every ISO), the movies play rather well.

Although, I say that, and I came across a movie my brother-in-law lent 
me today that was authored at 24fps rather than NTSC (29.97fps) which 
caused mythfrontend to completely crash (I'm not sure where he got the 
movie).  That was solved by manually converting the video to NTSC (but 
not the *right* solution).
