Try this: I can build a skeleton system with minimal
software and have it act as a dedicated pvr with
multiple uses, ultraconvenient interface, software
optimized to run on the hardware I installed, and all
without paying for tivo + tivo subscriptions, or
microsoft's $200+ software.
Leaving microsoft software on a disc in a dedicated
system is an invitation for entropy -- My experiences
only.
Things still chafing me:
1. Dealing with experimental drivers.
2. When Mythtv decides not to build.
2b. When Mythtv requires big setup time.
3. $15 a year for schedulesdirect.org
4. Encrypted channels
See yous,
Sam
