backend and ran into problems with the install disc doing all the work. I
had a wierd situation where certain packages had been installed (or logged
as installed) twice which made the install fail. So I did a 'yum upgrade'
from FC6 to 7 - manually deleting the problem packages using a rpm command
with a --nodeps modifier. I also had to install the 'allowdowngrade' option
on yum. Once I had 7 installed I used the disc to go to F8 which was very
easy. The whole process took about two hours plus another hour or so to
sort out problems with some things that have changed between 6 and 8 (like
my mdadm.conf file / drive naming). So my two cents would be to go 6 to 7
before 7 to 8 since it was in the 6 to 7 that I had my issues.
