Your master backend IP address must equal your backend IP address (or  
whatever it's called in the setup screen) in order for it to know it's  
a master backend. If those two values are different, it assumes you  
are connecting to a different machine even if the IP addresses resolve  
to the same local machine. (I think there's an exception is the master  
IP is 127.0.0.1, but I'm not positive about that).
