For me I don't flip around, and rarely watch live tv, but sometimes I just
want to check out a show/preview from the guide really quickly and don't
feel like it should need to access/thrash the disk just for that. I know I
have no need for PVR functionality - if I did I'd record it. (I can't get
xawtv, kdetv, or tvtime to work for some reason - I have tried. mplayer
works, but isn't convenient. Plus why have another app?)
(Also, I'm not sure I understand the technical limitations. I came from
GB-PVR, and it had a live tv mode (no buffer) that was fast, and if you
pushed pause it started writing to disk and turned on PVR mode. You might
lose a couple of seconds, but that's the tradeoff.)
I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, since this issue seems dead, but
just my 2 cents.
